I am a student at the University of Texas at El Paso and work for a Fortune 500 company in the Telecommunication Industry. I am currently pursuing a Business Management Degree with a focus in Human Resource Management to broaden my opportunities within corporate America. The goal of my degree is to be involved in the daily activities designed to ensure that an organization is efficient, effective, and profitable by utilizing all employees to obtain company objectives.
An important issue within the business field is equal employment opportunity because many highly qualified job applicants or employees are discriminated against because of the person’s race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age or disability. It is imperative to educate and make employers, employees and applicants aware of federal laws. At&t, Granger, Verizon , The Department of Human Resources and The City of El Paso are just a few agencies that deal with equal employment opportunity issues regularly. Another issue in this field that is important to me is developing employees’ ability to effectively make a decision on which compensation and benefits program will best prepare them for their retirement future.
During my time as a college student I will be focusing on completing my degree with a high GPA and I will develop key components to assist me with pursuing my management career through education, experience, and leadership.
